The past week has been filled with negative stories about presidential candidates, leaked videos and divisive debates, so we’re throwing some much needed attention to families that should remind the country what’s worth fighting for.
[HINT: It’s not a candidate.]
Actor and (more importantly) all-around awesome human Chris Pratt shared a few powerful moments from his visit to Seattle Children’s hospital on his Instagram account on Monday. If these kids don’t make you want to put down the keyboard and give someone a hug…well, frankly, you might need a hug yourself.
It’s obvious by the expressions on Chris and his news friends in these Instagram posts that sometimes all it takes is a hello and a smile to make someone else’s day a lot brighter. That hello being from Chris Pratt doesn’t hurt either. These kids are GLOWING, and Lord knows, they’re having a more challenging week than most of us.
Known for being proud of his faith, Pratt included Bible verses and prayers in his posts, like Proverbs 3:27: “Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.”
Pratt’s final post from his visit was in the NICU, which he noted having a “special affinity” for ever since his son Jack was born premature. He’s pictured with two precious newborn twins, Coen and Zion. Coen and Zion were only weighed a pound and a half each when they were born, but appear to be growing fast and doing well.
If you’re not smiling yet, scroll back up and start over. If you’re having a bad day or obsessing over this insane 2016 election, take note: Sometimes the best pick-me-up is picking up someone else.
There are millions of families out there just fighting to keep their loved ones with them through tomorrow – that certainly makes politics seem pretty trivial, doesn’t it? Let Chris Pratt be a PSA to make today special – it’ll be gone before you know it, and you can’t get it back.
