As conflict wages on between a varied group of military forces uniting against ISIS to take back the northeastern city of Mosul, the number of displaced children in need of urgent assistance is sitting at almost 10,000.
According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), a branch of the United Nations, an estimated 20,700 have been displaced. A staggering 9,700 of those are children that have fled their home since Oct. 17, the first day of the global retake Mosul launch.

These are just those accounted for. The actual number is likely much higher.
Earlier this week, military forces made gains against ISIS by reclaiming portions of the outskirts and an Iraqi church near the war torn city, other areas that have been freed include Bartella and Qaraqosh.

Christian Aid, a UK based organization that is supported by 41 British and Irish churches is working on the ground and made another appeal earlier this week, to help those displaced, specifically asking the Christian global community to pray, take up church offerings and donate directly to the humanitarian group.
