Just days after doctors in France reportedly recommended that the parents of a sick baby remove their daughter from life support, the child stunned hospital workers and her family members alike, by suddenly opening her eyes.
Marwa, a 1-year-old twin, was in a dire health crisis after contracting a virus that attacked her nervous system. So, doctors at La Timone Hospital in Marseille, France, decided to put her in a medically induced coma — an effort to try and protect her brain from associated damage, according to Inside Edition.
But after months of seeing no improvement and amid growing fears that the little girl wouldn’t be able to walk or have normal brain function, medical professionals reportedly recommended removal.
That’s when Marwa’s parents fought to get her a medical extension to stay on life support, securing a court order to keep her alive for an additional two months, the Daily Mail reported.
And just 10 days after that request was granted, Marwa opened her eyes — a development that has been making headlines in recent days.
In an update posted to Change.org after Marwa awoke, the little girl’s father, Mohamed Bouchenafa, reportedly wrote that the child is alert and fighting for her health.
“My little wonder can smile at me, finally continuing to battle,” Bouchenafa said, according to Inside Edition. “Her face has softer traits than normal … but her condition remains stable, aside from a fever from time to time.”
Marwa’s current condition is unclear, as these videos were posted a few days ago.
As Faithwire previously reported, there are other stories of parents who have seen amazing miracles when they’ve refused to give up hope. Consider the amazing story surrounding blogger Sarah Rodriguez and her daughter, Ellis. While Ellis almost didn’t make it, Rodriguez believes that prayer and God’s healing touch worked wonders.
