A mother of a cancer ridden daughter is asking the world for one simple yet special gift: send her 9-year-old Christmas cards.
In 2014, Hailey Rodenhiser was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and was forced to stay in a hospital for six months, even though doctor’s originally predicated a thirty day stay.
Mother of Hailey, Juanita Rodenhiser, is asking the global community to make this Christmas a positive and inspirational one for her young daughter because the little girl has been depressed lately.
As of now, the elementary aged child is still receiving chemotherapy and during the first days of the process, Hailey received get-well cards from individuals and it lifted the little girl’s spirits.
The mother told ABC news that, “Over the last couple of months…she noticed (that) her daughter seemed depressed due to her health complications.”
And, as a mother, she is interested in getting her daughter energized and excited about the holidays.
On Tuesday, the Nova Scotia based mother went to Facebook to thank local media and people across the world for sending her daughter’s cards and using the hashtag #HaileysChrismasCards.
The holiday inspired post has received hundreds of shares. In return the little lady has gotten a plethora of cards and toys, even one from Ms. Cluas.
Once the snail mail started pouring in addressed to Hailey, Rodenhiser said, “The first thing she says when they pull into the driveway after school is, ‘Mail!.’
“She absolutely goes over the moon when she gets a letter or a card,” and because of it, Hailey is in “best spirits.”
Hailey loves all cards but prefers ones with animals.
The family is still welcoming cards and they can be sent to this address below:
