The crowd of roughly 3,500 people watched the ceremony dedicated to veterans. This year’s list of honorees included 90-year-old evangelist and author, Dr. Tim LaHaye who passed away in July of this year.
LaHaye is best known for his book series, Left Behind, an apocalyptic piece of fiction that was written by himself and Jerry Jenkins over a twelve year time period from 1995-2007. The man enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1944 at the age of 18.
Verna Linzey was also honored at the ceremony on Dec. 19th.
Linzey is known as “Mother of the Fleet” and was in the United States Navy and is a former president of the Military Bible Association.
The woman passed away in November at the age of 97 due to heart failure.
