The pastor of a British church is reporting that at least two Muslim refugees have converted to Christianity after purportedly having dreams about Jesus — dreams they say led them to attend a Christian church.
The Rev. Sally Smith of St. Mark’s Church in Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England, told Christian Today that she’s seen scores of Muslim refugees — at least 50, to be more precise — convert from Islam to Christianity after she launched “Sanctus,” a drop-in center aimed at helping refugees who have come to her country with few resources.
While Smith said her efforts aren’t aimed at converting people to the faith, that’s exactly what has unfolded. And two refugees, in particular, have reportedly claimed to encounter Jesus in dreams before embracing Christianity.
“One man, Hassan, had a dream. In this dream, Jesus came to him as a light. He told him to come to this church and be baptized,” Smith told Christian Today. “He knew it was the Lord who had wrapped himself around him.”
And that’s not the only purported encounter.
“Another man saw Jesus in a dream and he was shown a picture of this very church,” the pastor said. “So many supernatural or mystic experiences seem to be happening. It is wonderful to be part of.”
According to Christian Today, Smith’s church, which has grown from 12 people to over 50, helps Iranian and Iraqi refugees who come to Britain with next to nothing. These individuals are often deeply moved by the lengths Smith and other Christians go to help them after their arrival. Read more about the story here.
As Faithwire recently reported, Muslim reports of Jesus appearing in dreams are anything but rare. Just consider the fact that Iranian Christian pastor Rahman Salehsafari recently told CBN News he’s observed something similar unfolding.
“Right now, you can see the results of the holy spirit,” he said of the apparent growth of Christianity in Iran. “You can see what the holy spirit is doing with people.”
Among the theories surrounding what’s driving this apparent increase in Christian adherents is the claim that Jesus has been appearing to Muslims in dreams and visions, helping lead them to the Christian faith.
“I had a dream. I had a dream long time back and every time that Jesus was with me. And in all of my life, he was helping me and I didn’t know who was this person,” a man named Reza told CBN News. “Suddenly, Jesus Christ was over there and he said, ‘Come to Me.’ And I came to that side and he accepted me.”
