When a fire broke out at a two-story home in the Washington, D.C. area, a four-legged member of the family almost didn’t make it out alive. But, the firefighters worked tirelessly to make sure that he did.
On Monday afternoon, an automatic fire alarm sent firefighters to the home

Once the fire was put out and the 3-year-old Italian sheep dog named Caesare was pulled out from the home, firefighters from D.C. Fire and EMS began to try and resuscitate him. The pup had suffered from smoke inhalation.

Caesare was rushed to an animal hospital after the first responders were able to stabilize him. He was listed under critical condition and received oxygen therapy for treatment.

Caesar bit one of the firefighters while the rescue efforts were being carried out. No other injuries were reported.
The fire department said it is “hoping for a successful outcome” for Caesare.
