Football fans will surely be divided as the New England Patriots face off against the Atlanta Falcons during Sunday night’s Super Bowl, but — despite being on opposing teams — it turns out there’s at least one thing a few of the players on both sides can agree on: their intense “love for the Bible.”
In fact, the developers of the YouVersion Bible app released a video on Friday that features a number of players from both teams explaining the importance of scripture in their lives.
Devin McCourty, free safety for the Patriots, is one of the guys who appeared in the clip, proclaiming that the Bible app helps keep him focused each day. And Patrick DiMarco, fullback for the Falcons, said he reads the Bible every day, and uses the YouVersion app to help keep himself on a spiritual track.
“I have a reminder that goes off at 6:30 — boom,” he said in the video. “It’s just a really unique way to really dig into the word.”
Others agreed, with Matthew Slater, a wide receiver for the Patriots, saying he’s able to keep his focus in the right place by using the Bible app.
“Instead of just reading aimlessly at times, (I am) able to use their plans at different seasons of my life when I need them,” he said. “Whether it’s something on parenting (or) marriage … just to have that organization as I do my studies, it’s really been great. It’s really been helpful for my wife and I.”
And Josh Harris of the Falcons added that the Bible app helps people find the inspiration they need to get through life’s troubles.
