Yet another shocking video was released this week by pro-life activist group Live Action, alleging that some Planned Parenthood facilities offer pizza parties, among other incentives, if clinics make set quotas for the number of completed abortions or abortion referrals.
These claims — made by former Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer and former nurse Marianne Anderson — are making waves in media following previous undercover and investigative clips that were released by Live Action in recent weeks.
“Every center had a goal for how many abortions were done, and centers that didn’t do abortions like mine that were family planning clinics had a goal for abortion referrals,” Thayer told Live Action founder Lila Rose. “If we hit our goal, our line was green; if we were five percent under, it was yellow; if we were 10 percent under, it was red. That’s when we needed to have a corrective action plan.”
Watch the shocking video below:
That corrective plan would explore why the clinic didn’t meet its abortion quota as well as an action plan for improving that scenario. And that’s not all. According to Thayer, clinic workers were trained to “encourage women to choose abortion” and to have the procedure at a Planned Parenthood, as it would count toward quotas and goals.
“We would try to get the appointment scheduled for the abortion before they left our clinic,” she said.
Thayer said clinic workers would typically ask for payment for the initial appointment on the spot, and if a woman said she didn’t have the money, they would often respond by urging her to terminate the pregnancy.
“If they’d say, ‘I’m not able to pay today,’ then we would say something like, ‘Well, if you can’t pay $10 today how are you going to take care of a baby? Have you priced diapers? … where would you go for help?” she explained. “Don’t you think your smartest choice is termination?”
If those quotas were met, staff were reportedly rewarded with pizza parties or paid time off.
Anderson, who was identified in the video as a former Planned Parenthood nurse, echoed claims about clinic quotas, saying she felt more like a salesperson than someone offering health care to the public.
“I felt like I was more of a salesman sometimes, to sell abortions,” she said. “And we were told on a regular basis that you have a quota to make to keep this clinic open … I felt more like I was selling abortions sometimes than treating people.”
This isn’t the first time the quota issue has been raised with Abby Johnson, another former Planned Parenthood director, telling The Christian Post last year that staff members would be fired if they didn’t meet quotas.
“Then, people start being fired. They will fire employees and there are monetary bonuses for directors if you meet your quota,” she said. “If you don’t meet your quota, people get fired and you don’t get your big bonus. That lends itself to coercion and manipulation in clinics since there are monetary benefits by meeting that quota.”
As Faithwire previously reported, this video follows previously released clips intending to prove that, at Planned Parenthood, “ultrasound machines generally only have one purpose: abortion.” And yet another Live Action video titled, “The Prenatal Care Deception,” attempted to prove that many Planned Parenthood clinics simply don’t offer prenatal care
