Just over a year ago, a two-year-old boy was left for dead on the side of a Nigerian road by his parents who believed their son was a witch. By the grace of God, a Danish aid worker spotted the emaciated child and stopped to helped.
The humanitarian missionary Anja Ringgren Loven saved the toddler’s life, who had been without food or shelter for days.
Loven saw baby Hope on the street and instantly felt called to help the starving child, so she brought him home. Now, as a member of her family, the young boy seems to be enjoying a happy, healthy life filled with fun and lots of dancing.
Over the last year, Hope has continued to grow and developed strength through a healthy diet, which has now prepared him to attend school with his brother.
In a Facebook post shared by Loven on January 30th, she explained the amazing recovery Hope has had over the past year. The co-founder of African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation recounting finding the boy while walking the streets looking for sick children.
She said, “On the 30 of January 2016 I went on a rescue mission with David Emmanuel Umem, Nsidibe Orok and our Nigerian team. A rescue mission that went viral, and today it’s exactly 1 year ago the world came to know a young little boy called Hope ?????”
In response to the wonderful efforts of Loven, social media is showcasing some real excitement and love.
