Just last month, TODAY Show’s Hoda Ktob shared with the world that she’s super excited about being a first time mother to a newborn baby girl.
Her daughter, Haley Joy was born in an undisclosed location on Valentine’s day of this year and now that she and her daughter are back in New York, Ktob is opening up about her decision to adopt at the age of 52 and how her battle with breast cancer changed her life.
The morning show host suffered from cancer more than a decade ago and like many women who deal with cancer, she was left unable to conceive a child and with the realization, “Sometimes in your life, things just don’t work out for whatever reason, so you say, ‘Well, I wasn’t meant to have that.’ But it was really hard to come to terms with it.”. Even though, “One of the things in my life I’ve always wanted was to be a mom.”
Now after many years of hoping and wondering, Kotb went for it because in her words, “I couldn’t push away anymore.”
To find the perfect baby for her, Kotb worked with a licensed New York based adoption agency. And to Kotb’s surprise her beautiful bundle of Joy was born weighing 8 lbs ., 8 oz. on February 14th.
