A Milwaukee, Wisconsin bus driver was going on her routine midnight break this past January when she spotted a 5-year-old barefoot boy walking down the city’s street.
When Denise Wilson first caught sight of the unidentified little boy she immediately pulled over the bus to go and help him. Saying to local news, that she asked herself in those first few moments of seeing him, “Am I really seeing what I’m seeing?”

Adding that, it seemed as if “(the young boy) came out of nowhere out of nowhere. I just happened to look over and heard him crying and he was just running up Center [Street].”
The black and white hazy surveillance video from the January 28th night shows the bus driver walking empty-handed off the bus and returning moments later with the young boy in her arms.
Once Wilson secured the little boy behind the driver’s seat in one of the first rows of the bus, she asked him if he was cold. He responded that he was and she gave him a coat and after she phoned the police for help, Wilson give the child a snack.
Once local police arrived. They confirmed that the bus driver kept the child on the bus until officers were able to come and investigate. After a series of questions, local officials confirmed that the young child had wondered away from his home “by mistake.”
When Wilson was asked why she wanted to help the child, she said it was purely driven by the fact that, she’s “a child of God.” Explaining, “a lot of times we try to do what’s right when we see something happening, and if we’re there to help and have the ability or means to do it, that’s what we’re supposed to do, so I don’t look at it as being a hero just being there to help.”
