A dog in Nigeria is now being hailed a hero for sniffing out a suicide bomber in a village wedding crowd this past Sunday.
In Belbelo village a community near the northeastern city of Maiduguri, local community members were gathered to celebrate a marriage between a bride and a groom. However the celebration quickly stopped after a dog discovered a girl on the outskirts of the crowd and instinctively lunged towards her. Within seconds the dog pounced on to the young woman caused a bomb attached to her body to go off, killing the bomber and the dog in the process, according to a witness.

The young woman’s identity has not been publicly shared, but local officials have reported that the female teen did have links to Boko Haram, terrorists who fall underneath the ISIS umbrella.
In response to the incident, Ahmed said, his guests were grateful for the dog because it had “sacrificed itself to save their lives.”
The Borno state police, official officers in the district, said that this incident came hours after three other suicide bombers were killed in nearby towns.
As of now, Boko Haram holds very little power in Northeast Nigeria, but the extremists are working on ways to infiltrate it by recruiting suicide bombers to go to large gatherings.
