In 2015, Dylann Roof shocked the nation after going on a horrific shooting spree, murdering 9 people at a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina.
Relatives of victims are still managing to show great compassion and mercy for the young man who senselessly and viciously took the lives of their loved ones, by pleading with him to “accept Christ” before his eventual execution.
‘Justice was Served’ – Family of Dylann Roof’s Victims React to Death Sentence
Roof pleaded guilty to state murder charges in court today. He had already been sentenced to death on federal charges, thus ensuring Roof won’t be seeing freedom ever again on this earth. According to USA Today:
Roof was sentenced to life in prison on the state charges, which included nine murder counts, three attempted murder counts and weapons offenses. His plea wrapped up the state’s prosecution and means families of the victims will be spared the anguish of a second trial. Prosecutor Scarlett Wilson said the deal would serve as an “insurance policy” in case the federal conviction and sentencing hit a snag on appeal.
Myra Thompsan’s sister, Blondelle Gadsden, spoke at the hearing and asked Roof to accept Christ into his heart, in order that he may make his last days more “peaceful” before being executed.
“I want to say again to Dylann Roof that, even though we are at a point where death has been the sentence for him, my heart still goes out to him in hopes that he would repent to save himself from himself.”
Pretty incredible faith, to be able to have concern for the soul of someone who is so lost, and has done such horrible things. Continued prayers for all involved.
