While rap concerts and spiritual experiences may not usually be known to go hand in hand, NBA superstar Kevin Durant said he “felt the spirit” after attending a Chance The Rapper concert last month. Durant made the comments during a livestream with fans in late April.

After being asked how he enjoyed the concert, Durant responded that the show was “dope,” adding that the 24-year-old rapper, born Chancelor Bennett, is “very talented.”

“He took us to church. I felt the spirit when I left the concert,” Durant recalled. “[Chance] was impressive. For that to be his second arena show ever, he really did a great job. He is only going to get better.”
This is not the first time Durant has opened up about his faith. He was baptized at Hillsong Church in New York City in 2013 after developing a relationship with pastor Carl Lentz, and the Christian Post reported the Golden State Warriors star is known to carry a Bible with him to games.

Chance The Rapper, meanwhile, made headlines in February when he took home three Grammy awards, including Best New Artist. During his acceptance speech, Chance praised God and expressed gratitude for the “amazing people” in his life.
“Glory be to God,” he proclaimed. “I claim this victory in honor of the Lord. I want to thank God for my mother and father who supported me since I was young.”
