For NFL safety Tre Boston, it was God’s will that led him from the North Carolina Panthers’ roster to Los Angeles to play for the Chargers.
It was divine intervention when Boston came across a stranger at a gas station who inspired him to pick the Chargers over the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston told ESPN.

The man, with his three children in tow, asked Boston if he could spare some change. The football star then handed him a $20 bill.
“So he tells me thank you so much, and that God put me in his life for a reason,” Boston told ESPN. “And in my mind I’m saying you’re here for a reason, too. So in my mind I’m saying should I ask him, ‘L.A. or Buffalo.’ And before I could ask him, my man told me, ‘Thank you so much. There aren’t too many people like you in this world, God’s children. My name’s Mike Daniels, but people call me L.A.’”
Boston said he burst into tears on the spot. As he reached into his car for a tissue, he spotted Jesus on a gas station advertisement stand at the gas station.
“Jesus saves,” the advertisement read.

Because Daniels “changed” his “life,” Boston ended up giving him $100. The two conversed for another 30 minutes, Boston said.
“Honestly, that’s the reason why I’m here. It didn’t matter how much money was given to me. It didn’t matter really who was on the team, it just happened to be a great fit. God told me to come here, and that’s my testimony. And that’s why I’m here.”
He clarified on Twitter that he also “prayed and prayed” repeatedly in hopes of finding a clear answer, and says LA was the answer that kept coming back.
Boston then signed a one-year contract with the Chargers last week. He expects to compete for significant playing time as a free safety.

“At the end of the day God told me to come here,” Boston said. “And I’m a man of faith, so I couldn’t go against his word.”
