Pop star Jordin Sparks is among those scheduled to perform at Harvest America, a massive Christian revival event that will be hosted on June 11 by Pastor Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside and Irvine, California.

Sparks, who rose to fame in 2007 after appearing on “American Idol,” has remained a popular mainstream singer and actress for the past decade. And later this month, she will join other well-known Christians acts such as Mercy Me, Phil Wickham and Trip Lee for the day-long music and gospel festival — an event that will also include a stirring Bible message from Laurie, the Christian Post reported.
Earlier this week, Sparks released a statement expressing her excitement over taking part in the monumentally popular Christian event:
“I went to a Harvest event for the first time right before my life changed on ‘American Idol.’ It was an amazing experience that I haven’t forgotten,” the singer said in a statement provided to the Post. “I am so incredibly excited that, nearly 10 years later, I’ll be performing with acts that I adore and in my hometown no less. Talk about coming full circle!”
The 2017 event will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and will be broadcast to churches across America.
The event’s purpose is to “impact a nation desperately in need of hope,” according to Harvest America’s official website.
Last year’s Harvest event, which unfolded at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, saw 82,000 attendees, 25,557 of whom made a “profession of faith.”
As Faithwire previously reported, Sparks has made it no secret that she’s a Christian. She starred in the reboot of the “Left Behind” film, a movie based on prophetic novels about the biblical end times.
She also took to Instagram back in December to share a photo of her Bible and implore fans to read Proverbs. The most notable part of her post, though, was the photo she shared of her Bible — a picture that showed highlighted and underlined verses as well as hearts and stars on its pages, indicating which parts of scripture clearly resonated with her.

Sparks explained how she’s been diving deep into scripture of late, marking up her Bible along the way — an act she learned from her grandparents.
“I remember seeing my parents & grandparents Bibles marked up like this when I was younger. I’ve only had this Bible for a little less than a year & I look at the pages of mine now & I understand,” the singer wrote. “These are so much more than words. It’s amazingly overwhelming and I cannot fully explain it.”
