Faith-based films have been increasingly prevalent over the past few years, and now it seems there’s at least a slight increase in the emergence of Christian-themed TV shows as well.
In fact, Pure Flix Digital, a faith-based entertainment company, recently announced that it will be releasing what might be the world’s first-ever Christian soap opera this fall — a show titled, “Hilton Head Island.”

“We’ve got something different we’re trying,” Greg Gudorf, CEO of Pure Flix digital, said on Thursday night’s “Pure Talk,” a faith-based talk show from Pure Flix and Faithwire. “We’re trying a Christian soap opera.”
And with actors like Donna Mills, Michael Swan and Antonio Sabato Jr. signing on, it’s sure to be a fascinating project.
Gudorf emphasized that the show will focus on “great stories,” noting that he believes some of the sexual and other adult themes that soap operas have become known for don’t need to be included in order for a program in that format to be successful.
“You still have to tell great stories,” he said. “You have to realize that all of our stories have drama in them. Traditionally, soap operas have overemphasized certain parts to play to an audience.”
With that in mind, Gudorf said Pure Flix believes there’s an “entry for more typical prayer life or Christian aspect flowing” into a show like “Hilton Head Island.”
