Muslim-turned-Christian apologist Nabeel Qureshi, who has been in the news since he began releasing candid videos sharing the details of his harrowing cancer battle, posted a new update about his condition on YouTube last week, saying that he’s in pain, but is fighting on.
Qureshi, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August 2016, has been struggling to eat and drink even small amounts of water.
“It’s gotten worse,” he said in the clip. “There’s just something going on with my stomach.”
But despite Qureshi’s struggles, the evangelist said he continues to pray for healing. He also shared a recent prayer event that he said was “crazy interesting”; it involved minister Ken Fish, who came to Houston, Texas, to pray with Qureshi.
“When he prays for people to get healed, they often do,” Qureshi said, citing Fish’s purportedly impressive track record.
Before Fish’s visit, Qureshi had spent weeks struggling to take even small sips of water, with food and liquid leaving him with intense stomach pain. But after Fish’s prayer for healing, Qureshi said he immediately drank water and “it didn’t hurt.”
“People around me started rejoicing,” he said. “I was very kind of hesitant.”
But the next day, Qureshi was able to drink Ensure, again with no pain. He even went to dinner and ate a little bit of steak and crab without incident.
“For the first day in weeks, I felt normal,” he said, noting that he experienced 36 hours without pain.
Unfortunately, his pain came back a few days after Fish’s prayer, but he still clings to hope that healing is potentially on the horizon. And, amid the pain, Qureshi asks his followers to pray for him.
“I’ve lost about 8 pounds in the last few weeks and that’s because I just can’t eat, and so I would appreciate your prayers,” Qureshi said. “I’m praying that something happened when Ken Fish prayed … I’m praying for total resolution. God can do that.”
