Actor Chris Pratt made his first public appearance at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night after he and his wife Anna Faris announced last week that they are separating.
Pratt, 38, appeared during the popular awards show to accept his win for the “Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi” award, calling it an “honor and privilege” to snag the honor.
But in addition to expressing his gratitude for the award and telling a short quip about his journey into Hollywood, the actor also made an explicit reference to his faith — a proclamation that made it no secret where he stands on the gospel.
“I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my Lord and savior Jesus Christ,” Pratt said to cheers.
After audience applause, he followed his faith proclamation up with a “thank you.”
Watch it all unfold below:
As Faithwire previously reported, Pratt and Faris, 40, who have been married for eight years, announced last week that they are “legally separating,” saying that they tried for a long time and are disappointed; the couple have a 5-year-old son named Jack.
“Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward,” their joint statement read. “We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”
In the past, Pratt has been open about his faith, and Faithwire has covered his public comments and charitable efforts. His conversion story is quite remarkable, too. Pratt even once scolded an obnoxious cameraman for wearing a cross around his neck and behaving the way he was.
According to TMZ, Pratt also took his son to church before the awards show on Sunday. Prayers up for Pratt, Faris and their family.
