Controversial health care organization Planned Parenthood raised some eyebrows this week with the release of a fundraising email that took aim at the Trump administration’s decision to scrap the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
But it wasn’t necessarily the organization’s stance on DACA that gained attention; instead, it was a proclamation about “life.”
Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards explained in the email why she opposes President Donald Trump’s decision to end the Obama-era program, which allows some people brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents when they were children to defer deportation and gain work status.
Richards said she’s “infuriated” and “heartbroken” over the government’s move. But that’s not all. In addition to pledging to fight the scrapping of DACA, Richards issued a comment that caught the attention of some conservative and pro-life activists.
“Here at Planned Parenthood, we firmly believe that every person has the right to live, work, and raise a family freely and without the threat of deportation or separation,” she wrote.
Twitter picked up on the irony almost immediately:

As TheBlaze noted, the portion of the text about everyone’s right to “live” was quickly noted by pro-life activists as a bit of irony, considering that Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider.
The organization performed 328,348 abortions between 2015 and 2016. Read more of the reaction to Richards’ comments here.
