President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have revealed the recipients of the $1 million donation that they personally pledged to give to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
The Trumps will, in fact, split the $1 million gift up and dole it out to 12 organizations, according to a White House press release.
Many of the groups on the list are well-known for their work during tragedies and natural disasters, including the Red Cross, which will receive $300,000 from the Trumps and the Salvation Army, which will also receive $300,000.
“The President and First Lady witnessed the work of some of these groups first hand while visiting with hurricane survivors, first responders, volunteers, and Federal, State, and local officials, and are proud to further assist the recovery efforts in Texas,” the statement read.
President Trump had previously asked members of the White House Press Corps for recommendations on which organizations he should give the funds to, with the commander-in-chief noting that reporters were on the ground and had the best idea of which groups have been doing the most viable and important work.
“Several of the … organizations were recommended, at the invitation of the President, by members of the White House Press Corps, and he would like to thank those who made recommendations for their attention to this important cause,” the White House statement continued. “The President and First Lady continue to pray for the people of Texas and Louisiana.”

Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse, took to his Facebook page on Thursday to publicly thank Trump for his $100,000 gift to the organization.
“I want to say thank you to President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for the gift they announced to Samaritan’s Purse to help Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas,” he wrote. “We appreciate them and all of those who have given so generously to help meet these great needs. I am grateful for their confidence in the work that Samaritan’s Purse is doing.”
This isn’t the first time that Trump has donated to help flood victims, as he gave $100,000 to Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, back in 2016 to help with relief in that area, The Christian Post noted.
