More and more NFL players around the country have been choosing to kneel during the National Anthem, as a sign of protest to the way black Americans are treated. Some players are keeping their heads down, but not for the reason you might think.
North Carolina Panthers player Thomas Davis bowed his head in prayer this weekend during the Anthem, and a photographer caught a shot of him in the middle of the act.
Davis posted to the photo to his page, thanking the photographer for getting the picture. As Americans argue and debate over various policies and issues, Davis has the right idea. Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have against evil and division.
As Davis said in the caption of his photo:
“I am a firm believer that prayer changes things & as a country, we must stick together. Tough day in many ways but trust and believe, we will bounce back & continue to Keep Pounding!”
With all the racial division in America right now — no matter where you stand — it’s hard to imagine us coming together and overcoming the division. But nothing is impossible with God and it hurts His heart to see his people divided.
As one commenter on the photo said, it’s time to get down on not one knee, but two knees and lift up our nation in prayer. Whether that’s done during the National Anthem or in the quiet of one’s own home, it’s necessary.
Props to Davis for giving everyone a great example of how to combat the enemy.
