Davis, who spoke with host Jason Romano about his team’s decision to stand and link arms during the national anthem on Sunday, concluded the podcast by offering up a heartfelt invocation to God.
“The issues facing our country, God, are just too big for us to handle, God, and we need divine intervention,” he said. “We need you, oh God. … we just turn away from our wicked ways, our wicked thoughts, our wicked treatment of others.”
Davis also asked God to teach people how to speak with one another with kindness, “how to listen” and to bestow wisdom.

Davis told Romano at the start of the podcast that he believes the U.S. “is at a time when tensions are … rising at a rapid rate” and he said that he personally attempts to see everything through a biblical lens.
“The Bible commands us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. People have to learn to love people who are different than them,” he said. “If you’re not loving them, then you’re hating them.”
