Revered pastor John Piper’s tweet on Sunday about “wannabe dictators” sparked quite a bit of online conversation, as the preacher seemingly slapped that label on President Donald Trump, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

“‘Jesus is the ruler of kings on earth.’ Revelation 1:5,” Piper wrote. “Over Trump, Putin, Kim Jong-un, and every huffing and puffing wannabe dictator. Let this sink in.”

It didn’t take long for reactions to come streaming in, with some of his followers disagreeing with his proclamation.
“Jesus was very kind in giving us Donald Trump at this time,” James Patrick Riley tweeted. “I know you cried tears of joy for Obama, but at least we don’t have a baby killer in office now. You are a HUGE disappointment, John.”
But another person named Anu took a different stand, seemingly agreeing with Piper.
“The church needs to wake up. Get informed, get involved, and stop falling every carpetbagger that waves the Bible that is never opened,” she wrote. “Trump is a charlatan and a traitor. Let’s be the light in the darkness. Defend those that Jesus would defend.”

Some questioned why Piper chose to clump the three leaders together, while others thanked him for speaking out. What do you think? Read the entire debate here.
Piper also recently said that white evangelical support for Trump has hurt efforts to work toward racial reconciliation, according to The Christian Post.
And as Faithwire previously reported, Piper penned a piece earlier this year titled, “How to Live Under an Unqualified President,” reaffirming his belief that Trump isn’t qualified to be commander-in-chief (to be fair: he said Clinton is unqualified as well).
