Unlike most other kids his age, 9-year-old Louis Williams is asking St. Nick for something far more permanent than a toy or iPad: he’s looking for suitable housing for him and his family.
Louis, who lives in Kent, England, with his mom and two sisters, has moved 11 times over the course of his life and he’s now turning to Santa in hopes that his family can leave government housing and find something more permanent, Inside Edition reported.
And, without a doubt, his letter to Santa — as well as his family’s circumstances — will most certainly tug at your heartstrings.
“This year for Christmas please can I have a forever home. I don’t want any new toys I just want all of my old toys that are in storage and I would like my own Lego bedroom with a desk to build my models,” he wrote. “Everyone is sad living here and I just want us to be happy again. Thank you and have a lovely Christmas, love from Louis Williams.”
Louis told Kent Online that he wrote his letter to Santa because he is “hoping for a Christmas miracle.”
“I wrote the letter because I really want a new home and I don’t really like moving,” he said. “It makes me sad because I’ve never had a proper house.”
The family is currently in a duplex and is waiting for something more permanent, as there isn’t even enough space for a Christmas tree. His mom, Nicola Williams, said that she’s heartbroken seeing his letter to Santa.
She also explained that the family fell on hard times after she fell behind on rent when her 10-year marriage collapsed, despite the fact that she has worked two jobs. In the end, the family found itself moving around.
“I work really hard, but just can’t afford the rent down here,” Williams said. “I feel like I’ve really let him down. Seeing what all the other children are asking for, this breaks my heart.”
Pray for Louis and his family this holiday season.
