An incredible video has surfaced of an 18-year-old man, Zach, meeting his biological mother and grandmother for the first time.
As it turns out, his grandmother, Sheila, had been suffering from lung cancer and was told she had just a couple of months to live. Knowing that she was unlikely to be around much longer, Zach’s mother asked him whether he would be OK with meeting her – something that his grandmother had always wanted.
Zach agreed to meet them both. Love What Matters shows the incredible moment of love and grace as the family reunited:

“I adopted my son, Zachary, when he was 17 months-old, as a single parent. Even though I knew who his mom was, he has not wanted or had any contact with her or his grandmother,” Zach’s mom told Love What Matters.
His grandmother, Sheila Gibson, was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, which has metastasized to the liver. Doctors have given her a couple of months. Zach’s mother, Candice, contacted me and told me that her mother’s Christmas wish was to meet Zach one time, before she passed.
I gave Zach the option; and without hesitation, he decided he would make her wish come true. On Dec. 23rd, that dream came true! The lady opening the door is Candice, his mother—it’s the first time she has been able to hold him in 18 years!”
The video attracted hundreds of comments, many of whom took a moment to praise the mother for allowing her son to meet his estranged family members. “What a great mother you are! What your son made is the perfect example of that. Congratulations to both of you!” one person wrote.
“As an adopted child, the incredible life you gave him is apparent in the fact he could find the compassion and love to give his birth grandmother this true gift. God bless him, and your family,” another added.
“Never forget…LOVE is everything Zach. Your gift to her was kind and beautiful.”
