David Bereit, an advisor and former board member for Students for Life, a pro-life organization, released a rebuttal to Nye that explores “the biological realities of life,” with Bereit taking pointed aim at the “science guy’s” 2015 abortion commentary, which is making the rounds again.
“You began by stating your opinion that fertilized eggs are not human yet,” Bereit said in the video, before going on to cite the American College of Pediatricians, a conservative group. “The scientific facts from the American College of Pediatricians state, and I quote, ‘The predominance of human biological research confirms that human life begins at conception/fertilization.'”
Bereit continued, “When a human egg is fertilized by a human sperm a new human being is created. That is scientific fact.”

Bereit went on to note that most people dislike abortion and encouraged Nye to listen to women who have “personally experienced the trauma of abortion.” From there, he continued his tough rebuke of the “science guy.”
“You told us to disregard scientific fact about the beginning of life. You told us to not pursue lifesaving laws,” Bereit said. “You told us that abstinence doesn’t lead to healthier societies, even though it’s the only 100 percent effective way to prevent pregnancy and STDs.”
And he concluded with the following, “When it comes to human biology, you’re ‘Bill Nye the opinion guy.'”
