Actor Taylor James, star of the new feature film “Samson,” revealed a stunning “vision” that he had years before he landed the iconic biblical role — a message that led him to grow his hair long and keep up a stellar workout routine.
James said during a recent episode of “Pure Talk” that this vision as well as a conversation with a friend had a major impact on him.
“I had a vision as an actor and a person a few years ago to grow my hair and to maintain a certain physical appearance,” he said. “It was my guiding light.”
After the vision, James said he also had a conversation with a friend who he said has a “special ability to connect predictions and the right path for me to walk down.” This man told James that he would “go home” and lead his people.
“He said … ‘You’re going to go to South Africa and you’re going to lead your people,'” James recounted, with the actor noting that he was raised in South Africa for the first six years of his life. “It was in that moment that I thought, ‘There’s going to be a chapter in my life when I need to go to South Africa.'”
It was three years later that James auditioned for “Samson” — and when he looked at the script two details immediately jumped out at him. First, he noticed the movie would be filming in South Africa. And, perhaps more eerily, he also saw the following tagline describing Samson: “A man who leads his people.”
“My hair just stood up on my arm,” “Pure Talk” host Tommy Blaze responded, as he intently listened to the actor’s experience.
As for James, he said that everything became clear upon seeing those details.
“I literally knew in that moment … that the part was mine,” he said.
