Update 5:30 p.m.
Earlier this afternoon a shooter entered the Capital Gazette newspaper office in Annapolis, Maryland, and took the lives of several people as well as leaving many others injured.
During a press conference this afternoon, William Krampf, the acting chief of police for Anne Arundel County, stated that five people were killed in the shooting, and several others were seriously wounded and sent to the hospital.
“We’ve had a terrible shooting incident here this afternoon,” Steve Schuh, the Anne Arundel County Executive stated.
President Trump has tweeted out his condolences, stating “Prior to departing Wisconsin, I was briefed on the shooting at Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Thank you to all of the First Responders who are currently on the scene.”

The governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan also tweeted his condolences, stating: “Absolutely devastated to learn of this tragedy in Annapolis,” he said. “I am in contact with County Executive Steve Schuh, and @MDSP is on the scene assisting @AACOPD. Please, heed all warnings and stay away from the area. Praying for those at the scene and for our community.”

Prayers are needed as an active shooting has been reported at the Capital Gazette in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
Police are sweeping the building floor by floor while asking for those in the building to find shelter.
Phil Davis, a reporter for the Capital Gazette, has reported that there have been multiple people shot, according to The Baltimore Sun. Few further details are known right now.
The Capital Gazette is a local publication owned by The Baltimore Sun.
