Most people around the world have expressed compassion for the parents of 2-year old Lane Graves, who tragically lost his life in an unimaginable alligator attack at Walt Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida.
Unfortunately, not everyone with access to the internet was born with the ‘tact’ gene. A strong contingent of wildly uninformed arm-chair quarterbacks were determined to let it be known Lane’s parents, Matt and Melissa, were to blame for their child’s death.
One mom, who lounged in the same exact location a mere one hour prior to the tragedy, is speaking out. As reported by the Daily Mail, Jennifer Venditti shared pictures of her son playing near the lagoon and fiercely condemned those suggesting the parents should’ve known better.
“I’ve already seen posts criticizing the parents. I can assure you alligators were not on my mind at all when Channing was in the water,’ she wrote in an open letter on Facebook.
‘It’s a tiny beach, surrounded by pools, water slides, a restaurant and a fire pit. I can’t conceive that an alligator would be in such a busy, small space.'”
Millions of children have vacationed in the same spot without incident, making especially difficult to stomach arguments suggesting that somehow the Graves should’ve been alerted to danger.
Venditti took to her Facebook page to urge those quick to criticize to take a different tact.
“PRAY, PRAY so hard for the family & for those who witnessed this tragic event” she said, closing her comments with the perfect hashtag.
