St. Baldrick Foundation’s Father’s Day #BestBaldDad winner Josh Marshall showed us what a father’s love is all about this week.
In his submission photo featured above, 28-year-old Josh captions: “Me and my son at this year’s St. Baldrick’s event in Wichita, Kansas. Got my son’s scar tattooed to help his self-confidence.”
Josh and his son Gabriel, who was diagnosed with anapestic astrocrytoma, a rare malignant brain tumor, live in Kansas.
When Josh learned Gabrielle’s scar made him feel like a “monster” it broke his heart. “I told him if people wanted to stare, they could stare at both of us.”
While Josh and Gabriel’s scar is getting a lot of attention, in a recent post to the “Prayers for Gabe Marshall” Facebook Page, Josh revealed they share more than a scar. They also share their faith.
“Me and gave got baptized today,” he wrote, sharing photos of he and his son’s baptism at Park Place Christian Church.
In an interview with Buzzfeed News, Josh shared the news that despite still having some tumor left, Gabriel’s most recent scans show he is stable and has been off treatment for nearly nine months. (yay!!!) Jason Berglund, a commenter to Gabriel’s Facebook Page sums this father-son duo up perfectly: “You’re both an inspiration to everyone.”
