A car chase in Houston yesterday ended with a spectacular move by one pretty awesome police officer.
After responding to a burglary call, two suspects were spotted at the scene and promptly took off in a vehicle. Officers gave chase with vehicles and a pursuit helicopter, eventually the suspects tried to flee on foot.
The dramatic ending was caught on video and shows one very determined suspect, Joshua Clark, get rammed by a police SUV while attempting to elude officers. Clark, perhaps strongly aided by adrenaline, seemed relatively un-phased and continued his attempted escape.
That’s when officer Steven Borgstedte decided to put an end to things. Borgstedte, who was co-piloting the pursuit helicopter, chose the most legendary possible way to take down the suspect. With the copter still a few feet off the ground and still donning his helmet, he jumped out and sprinted across the field.
He closed in rapidly, lined up his target, and delivered a punishing tackle. The suspect briefly considered trying to fight, but when Officer Borgstedte raised his fists, the suspect thought better of it and tried to flee. Borgstedte gave chase and tackled Cark a second time, completing the spectacular display.
