Dead.
That’s what a 21 year-old man looked like after smacking hard into the water thanks to a flying leap of faith off of a massive waterfall. The impact left him unconscious, and if not for two alert tourists nearby he would definitely not be alive.
When Shiloh Shahan was asked by police if he was trying to commit suicide, he was adamant that was not the case.
“I told them no, it was a calling” Shahan said to local media. “I decided, ‘I want to jump off of this.’
“I was at a really pivotal point in my life. Everything was changing, and it felt like the right thing to do.”
Thankfully for Shahan, two tourists were waiting down below when he smashed into the water and lost consciousness. They managed to pull him to safety before he drowned.
Shahan described his interaction with authorities after he told them he felt ‘called’ to jump.
“The cop asked me, ‘So it was something spiritual then?’ said, ‘Yes. I didn’t mean to be disrespectful.’”
Faithwire.com does not claim to be the authoritative source for theological disputes – that said we’re pretty sure God did not call this young man to risk his life in order to find meaning. Incredibly, God is able to do that even if both feet are firmly planted on the ground.
