Mother mode = beast mode.
The way mothers are wired is something to behold. There’s nothing quite like witnessing the sheer instinct and power that comes over a mom when her children are in danger. It’s like they’re possessed with a righteous power, and they will not be denied.
One parent has mommy mode to thank for her worst fears not coming true. Adrian Young is a school crossing guard at an elementary school in Los Angeles.
She’d just finished up work when she heard a child screaming frantically. “She was like ‘Please don’t let her take me. I don’t know her. She’s not my mom,” Young said to KABC.
“I kind of went into mother mode… because I couldn’t see myself letting this little girl be taken. I’m just grateful I was there.”
The suspect was later caught and charged with felony kidnapping.
What an awesome job by this little 8-year old girl being bold and calling for help. At that age there was probably a lot of fear and confusion, it took great courage for her to speak up for herself.
And even though most of use assume we would act in the same heroic fashion the crossing guard did, it’s not always so cut and dry. Someone less alert could’ve easily assumed the child was having a tantrum and just tuned them out.
Thankfully, this child and the guard were both on point. Likely saved a life!
