Three men who witnessed a 68-year-old woman drive into a Massachusetts pond are being hailed as heroes after rescuing her seconds before her SUV became completely submerged in water.
On Friday afternoon, the woman was attempting to back into a parking spot when she jumped a curb and drove the car into Spy Pond in Arlington, according to police. Three bystanders then jumped into the water and pulled her out of the car.
The entire ordeal was caught on cellphone video. The woman’s dark-colored Ford Edge is seen slowly drifting further toward the middle of the pond. A man is seen swimming toward it and opening the back door just in the nick of time before the car dives front-first in the water.
Seconds later, the SUV is completely submerged, and a large quantities of the woman’s belongings bubble up to the surface.
Police said the woman was cold but otherwise unhurt from the ordeal.
