As most urbanite’s know, you never know what you will get on mass transit and this NYC subway ride is no different.
A man challenged fellow riders to share their personal stories. He said:
“All you guys have stories you want to share too and stories that share your accomplishments because nobody else will, but we all have something we can share, we all have something to celebrate.”
Normally, people riding the subway are lost in their headphones, but this time it was different. One man decided to break the ice and go for it.
Not only did he answer, it was a pretty epic answer that channeled Luke Cage.
“Well since you started” he began, before busing into a beat boxing moment, continuing with these lyrics, “just about a month ago, I was considered a scary guy in a hoodie, black, beard, but just about a month ago Luke Cage made it cool,” in response, train riders erupt in unison laughter.
Then the man on the number five express train states with a smile on his face, “I am happy to tell you guys, I am turning thirty in December.”
As he pops off his hoodie, people say, “yeah” and then, he adds, “I am young, I am black and I am beautiful.” And lastly states, “Sexy too”
“I came to share with you guys, I work in Manhattan, I work for a hedge fund, I am donating computers to the education system in a small Caribbean Island of Grenada. So I am that new face of the black, tall fellow in a hoodie with a beard.”
“So I am here to share my good news with everybody and hopefully you get to too.”
After ending, he turns to another rider and says, you look like you do too, what’s going on?
As we can see, the short taping helped encourage a positive and happy travel experience for those that got a chance to see and hear the man. Most importantly, it was an example to the world, the importance of sharing the good news.
Luke Cage is in a Netflix series called “Marvel.”
