Robby Novak — better known by his stage name “Kid President” — has a pertinent message about civility for every American.
The comical, yet insightful, video was first released in September, but is getting renewed attention this week, as citizens on both sides of the political divide lament — and celebrate — Republican businessman Donald Trump’s victory.
“You’re not always going to agree even with the most agreeable person in the world,” Kid President said in the video. “In a world with so many things to disagree on we’ve got to learn how to disagree without making everyone feel terrible.”
He continued, “In a heated argument, you can forget you’re talking to a person.”

Kid President then proceeded to give people a series of steps to follow in order to instill civility in society. They included: treating “people like they’re people” and listening “before trying to change someone’s position,” among other points of advice.
“Don’t say it until you can say it with love,” he implored his viewers. “Here’s something you’ve got to accept: Not everyone’s the same … We just got to learn to be more awesome to each other.”
He also reminded adults that kids are taking their cues from them when it comes to navigating disagreements.
