Sister Laura Morgan called on fellow Americans last week to help The Franciscan Monastery Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Peekskill, New York get the new boilers needed to keep the women warm this winter.
A request, Sister Morgan felt compelled to ask because of a talk with God.
The Franciscan Monastery Sisters only have a single working boiler and in need of 350,000 dollars to replace and repair the others.
Earlier this month, Morgan told local ABC News that, “I had a very long talk with God and I said, ‘I know you’re not going to let me down.'”
To start off the request, the ladies sent out 4,000 letters to people on the Monastery mailing list and began a youcaring.com page, Heat for the Sisters, which has raised over $100,000 thus far.
The call for God’s hand, has also gained attention of several boiler companies, who are interested in donating boiler systems and two other local businesses that have offered to provide maintenance for the new systems being put in.
The Monastery is 150 years old and has 24 nuns.
