Two children got a surprise of a lifetime when their Fort Bragg soldier father hidden in a box pops out to let them know he’s home.
The father was deployed to an undisclosed location and made his return to the family’s Fayetteville, North Carolina home in one piece and excited.
As of now, the family would like to remain anonymous but has decided to share the experience with the world in a 1:50 second video.
The video starts off in Spanish before bits of English pop in. Viewers first see a little boy running with a smile on his face towards a large present on the family doorstep.
To help him get to the top of the life size gift, a male family member lifts him up so he can open the blue bowed package.
After a few seconds, the boy says, “it is a big box” and the mother responds, “are you excited?”
And he says, “yeah” as he continues to tear off the wrapping paper.
After he finishes removing most of the paper, he opens up the untapped cardboard box lid.
To his surprise, his dad jumps out in uniform. The unidentified child responds with the words, “papa” and leaps into his arms for a huge hug.
The dad says, “surprise” while holding his son tightly in his arms and then the child goes on to state, “I missed you so much.”
The touching embrace continues as the boy reiterates how much he missed his father and adds, “I didn’t know that you were going to be the surprise” as he jumps in the air.
The dad responds with the words, “you are so big” before a little girl arrives to get a hug and kiss from her father in the last ten seconds of the video.
Before the video stops, the audience hears a little boy saying, “dad can I show you something?” and the father replying “yeah, sure, sure.”
The mother of the children told ABC that, “It’s such a blessing to have him back home! Having a deployed soldier is always hard for the family, (especially) when you have kids.”
“My son was always asking when his daddy was going to return. He’s super close with his dad, and he was missing him dearly. When he opened that box and he realized it was his dad inside his voice broke down!”
And “It brought all of us to tears,” she said.
