Actor Chuck Norris and his wife Gena O’Kelley are in Israel this week, with the couple visiting famed sights and meeting with dignitaries, including Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu.
During a meeting with Netanyahu on Wednesday night Norris once against voiced his support for the prime minister as well as for Israel more broadly, striking a serious tone during an encounter that was, at other moments, quite comical.
“You’ll always have my support,” Norris told the prime minister.
Netanyahu responded to Norris by invoking some of the popular Internet memes surrounding the actor that have circulated in recent years (one line quips such as “Death once had a near-Chuck experience” and “Chuck Norris played Russian roulette with a fully loaded gun and won” among many others).
“Listen, Israel is strong, but it’s indestructible now,” Netanyahu joked when he met with Norris. “I think we can tell our security people to leave. We don’t need them anymore.”
Norris, of course, got quite a kick out of it. Watch these interactions unfold below:
According to the Jerusalem Post, Norris, star of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” previously filmed three movies in Israel, and has been a vocal proponent of Netanyahu. He and his wife reportedly visited the Western Wall during their visit, among other well-known sights.
