Two United States Congressmen, Republican Will Hurd and Democrat Beto O’Rourke, were worried about making it from Texas to D.C. in time for voting because of the weather and flight cancellations, so they decided to rent a car and road trip it.
Then, they made an even better decision: they decided to go live on Facebook and take questions from viewers during the long drive. It took a while for this to catch on, but now it’s gaining steam on social media platforms.
They’ve had some laughs – like timing rest stops and seeing how quickly they can get back into the car – and engaged in serious policy discussions. Obviously the two men are on opposite side of the spectrum politically, but they’re able to have a civil conversation and remain friendly despite their differences.
This is the sort of civil discourse and humanity the country desperately needs. Watch, learn and enjoy!
