Robertson opens up about her own personal struggles and how she has learned to equip herself with Godly reminders to get through them, including the symbolic key she wears around her neck. It was custom made for her and is a nod to Psalms 46, a passage that highlights taking refuge in God, our pillar of strength during times of trouble.
She read the verse out loud before further breaking down and explaining how it relates to her personal life.
“Even when the bad times come what we have to do is be still. And we have to not be afraid. And the reason why we aren’t afraid is because we know God is protecting us, he’s covering us and he’s providing us a place of joy and a place of rest and a place of peace.”
She also said it’s important to know God before the hard times come because “Bad times and hard times are going to come.” Even if “Right now you may be sitting in an awesome time in your life, a great season, and you’re like, ‘I don’t need to think about that, this doesn’t have to do with me.’ But I’m going to tell y’all, and I hate to break this to you, but things will happen. And how are you going to handle yourself then? In order to know where God is in those times, you have to beforehand know who God is.” She’s not just preaching at people – she shared how this relates to her own regular struggles with anxiety and fear.
She hopes one day that her strong relationship with God will help her navigate away from those feelings when they pop up, so she can ultimately use that as a time and opportunity to pray for others. A hope she doesn’t just have for herself but also fans.
Robertson closes the video with a prayer for viewers:
“I pray that even when tough times come, even when the boyfriend cheats, even when the parents get divorced, even when somebody passes, even when the whole school goes against you, even when you feel very ugly, even when you feel very afraid, that you’re able to be still; you’re able to know that God is protecting you — that you’re able to feel safe, and your eyes are enlightened.”
