Love is in no short supply when it comes to former president George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, with the nation’s 41st president posting a sweet tweet on Thursday to commemorate the former first lady’s 92nd birthday.

“Happiest of birthdays to Barbara Pierce of Rye, NY,” he wrote, sharing a picture of him and Barbara. “I’m still the luckiest guy in the world.”

The tweet was “liked” more than 36,000 times and re-tweeted nearly 6,000 times. And in addition to the attention the message received on social media, it also got a fair bit of media coverage.
Perhaps the simple, yet pointed, tweet resonated due to the fact that the Bushes, who have been married for 72 years, “appear to be just as in love as ever,” as the Daily Mail noted.

As Faithwire previously reported, the former first couple have been in the headlines of late after a series of health issues.
Earlier this year, former president Bush was treated for pneumonia for two weeks, while Barbara Bush spent five days in the hospital being treated for bronchitis.

For now, though, the duo appear to be doing well. Barbara Bush celebrated her birthday in Kennebunkport, Maine, on Thursday, having a “quiet day” that ended with a “birthday dinner with some family and friends,” People reported.
And it seems the festivities aren’t quite over yet, as former president Bush will also soon celebrate his own birthday; he turns 93 on Monday.
