Bono, who was speaking before a packed concert audience in Hyattsville, Maryland, on Tuesday night, mentioned the “troubling” days the nation recently experienced, and expressed his gratitude that Scalise and others survived the ordeal.
“We are so grateful that Congressman Scalise and his colleagues made it through. So grateful,” he said. “We hold them up as love holds us all up.”

Scalise’s official Twitter account shared video of Bono’s comments along with a brief note that read, “Thanks Bono & U2.”
As Faithwire previously reported, authorities identified the shooter as James T. Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Illinois, and said that he allegedly shot at the Republican congressman and their staffers for just a few minutes on Wednesday as they practiced for a charity baseball game that was held against a team of their Democratic peers on Thursday night.
Scalise has been upgraded from critical to serious condition, though his congressional peers believe he’s got a long road to recovery.
