After showering wounded Republican Rep. Steve Scalise with well-wishes during a concert earlier this week, U2 frontman Bono visited Capitol Hill on Wednesday and met with House Speaker Paul Ryan and members of Scalise’s staff.
The visit, which included well-wishes for Scalise, also centered on meeting with Republican and Democratic lawmakers to discuss international affairs funding, USA Today reported.

“Bono is highlighting the lives saved by America’s investments in foreign assistance and underscoring testimony given by 16 retired generals and admirals last week about the critical importance of development to America’s national security,” Ian Koski of the ONE Campaign, Bono’s anti-poverty organization, said in a statement.

Bono signed get well posters for Scalise and for Capitol Police Officer David Bailey, who was injured but not shot during the event.
As Faithwire previously reported, the musician, who was speaking before a packed concert audience in Hyattsville, Maryland, on Tuesday night, paused performing music to mention the “troubling” days the nation recently experienced, and expressed his gratitude that Scalise and others survived the ordeal.
