“Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson did something a bit different from her normal social media routine in a video she released on Tuesday, joining friend Laney Redmon in singing a cover of Miley Cyrus’ new song, “Malibu.”
Robertson opened the 4-minute clip by explaining that she’s generally too scared to perform music in front of others, saying that the thought of doing so gets her “really nervous.”

But while something inside of her “freaks out” at the thought of singing before an audience, the reality TV star said that too many people are controlled by fear — so much so that it might prevent them from following God’s path for their lives.
“I started asking God, ‘Why do I get so scared of so many things?'” Robertson shared. “And I think it ultimately comes down to that verse that says, ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.'”
In the end, Robertson said it’s essential to rely on God’s path rather than peoples’ own whims. And she and Redmon used “Malibu” — a song they know isn’t a Christian tune — to help try and inspire people who struggle with fear to find “peace and freedom.”
“We know it’s not a Christian song necessarily, but it’s such a powerful message,” Robertson said. “And you can definitely relate it to your life in many ways.”
