Franklin Graham, head of the Charlotte-based Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Boone-based Samaritan’s Purse, blasted national magazine Teen Vogue as “in the category of a porn magazine” over a very graphic and disturbing how-to guide for anal sex.
Graham said the popular magazine does “nothing” to warn its readers about the potential dangers of the act.
“They are glorifying anal sex and doing nothing to warn young readers of the extreme dangers that this practice brings from a medical standpoint,” Graham wrote on Facebook. “Even more important are the spiritual ramifications. Sodomy is a sin against God.”
In his post, Graham praised a mother named Elizabeth Johnson, who launched the #pullteenvogue campaign, which urges store owners and public libraries to pull the magazine from their shelves.
“Good for her!” Graham said. “She’s right – this content is perverse and morally degenerate.”
Graham urged his followers to view Johnson’s video about the campaign on the Facebook group The Activist Mommy.
The video of Johnson burning a copy of Teen Vogue has been viewed more than 11 million times.
Graham also took aim at some of the companies that advertise in Teen Vogue, including David’s Bridal, Levi’s and Secret deodorant.
“It’s important that we let them know we don’t appreciate their support of this obscene content aimed at children and teens,” Graham wrote.
On Twitter, Teen Vogue’s Digital Editorial Director Phillip Picardi defended the article in question.
“The backlash to this article is rooted in homophobia,” he said. “It’s also laced in arcane delusion about what it means to be a young person today.”

Graham warns parents to teach their children “the truth about sexual relations.”
“Warn them against what the socialist progressives want to push on the innocents,” he said. “…Schools will not teach the truth, the media will not teach the truth—it’s up to you to raise your children in truth and knowledge.”
