“I was amazed. The first thing that came to my mind was how sweet it was,” Meghann Shaw told Inside Edition. “They were walking hand-in-hand.”
Shaw, who was shopping at the store in Biloxi, Mississippi, when she observed the scene, later took to Facebook to share the picture of the employee helping the man pick out some items — and had no idea just how massive the response would be.
See the photo below:
“I’ve been trying to place the right words into this post for a little while now,” Shaw wrote in a July 16 post accompanying the image. “Yesterday afternoon, I had to go to Biloxi Walmart to pick up a prescription. While in there I noticed a store associate and an elderly blind man walking hand in hand. She escorted him throughout the store.”
It was a kind act that left her both enamored and encouraged.
“With all the hate in the world she gave love. Without the man seeing her, she showed him pure compassion and love,” she continued. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Shaw said she simply wanted to share the moment with her friends to give them a little inspiration. But the impact has gone far beyond her Facebook friend list, with the photo attracting more than 27,000 likes as well as nearly 10,000 shares.
