Actor and comedian Kel Mitchell penned a heartwarming Instagram post in honor of his baby Wisdom’s recent birth, revealing the Bible verse that he and his wife relied on in preparing for their daughter’s arrival.
“Our daughter is a reflection of your beautiful greatness and loving spirit! Our daughter is a blessing!” Mitchell wrote directly to his wife, Asia Lee. “For this child we have prayed 1 Samuel 1:27. Prayers do get answered and dreams do come true! Daddy loves you Wisdom!”
If you’re unfamiliar, that verse reads, “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.”

The actor — who is known for his past roles on Nickelodeon’s “All That” and “Kenan and Kel” — also shared that Wisdom was born 7 pounds, 11 ounces with a “head full of hear and full of happiness,” expressing his immense gratitude over the child’s birth.
“So much joy in my heart. She is so adorable!” he wrote. “My wife is the most amazing woman; she was so strong throughout the birth. I’m so proud of her!”

Mitchell has made headlines in recent years after discussing the troubles he faced after his Nickelodeon days as well as his rediscovery of the Christian faith — a devotion that has since transformed his life. TheBlaze has more:
Mitchell [shared] more specific details about his past struggles on his personal blog, where he wrote that he has had many “ups and downs,” including: “Suicidal [thoughts], divorce, drug and alcohol usage, deep in sin, dealing with the lost of love ones to gang violence, debt, hurt, pain, vanity, lust, heartbreak, feeling LOST looking for answers.”
While he has always known God, Mitchell said that he now has a “true understanding” of the Almighty, encouraging others to embrace the Bible and allow for the same change in their own lives.
“God’s WORD is your LIGHT, when everything seems dark in your life. PLEASE let the Holy Ghost in so you can let God lead you in the right direction and avoid making and getting in the wrong type of situations and attracting the wrong type of people that will temp you to make wrong choices,” Mitchell wrote.
